ERO Reporting

June 2021 Update

Ngā mihi ki te kura whānau o Wairau Valley Special School.

ERO is implementing a new approach to school evaluation from February 2021. ERO will move from an event based external review approach to supporting each school in a process of continuous improvement. The evaluation process will be collaborative and co designed with you and your community to respond to your school context. The intent is for ERO and your school to work together to ensure all learners in our system are successful.

ERO’s accountability function remains unchanged.

Introducing your school Evaluation Partner

Your school evaluation partner also known as a review officer is Kay Lowe, and she will begin working with your school in an ongoing evaluation partnership shortly.

Please note that due to COVID-19, ERO did not visit Wairau Valley Special School in 2020 as scheduled. Members of ERO met with both Angela Clarke and Natalie Todd via Zoom to enquire as to how the school was coping with Covid-19 and our plans to manage it for the future. They were interested in how the school was supporting its students, families, staff and principal. They intend to provide a report on this meeting to the board of trustees in the near future and we will share it here. This meeting replaced the scheduled onsite visit for 2020.
